Firsts

Thinking of First Day in this class as what a usual student feels nervous but with mixture of excitement for a thirst of knowledge. It happens all the time, guess it was all of the reason where you want to expect what you really wanted to happen. But every instance of everyday says nothing is really horrific as what you always expect everything to be.
Guess just has to wait and see on what everything would turn out.

Saving La Mesa Reservoir

Saving La Mesa Reservoir
According to news released weeks later, the Manila area is on its way to drought if it would not rain for the La Mesa Reservoir continues to dry inch by inch. Not till the storm Reming hit the country yet the news still stressed that on next year the Manila area has the possibility to run out of water. Years ago the Manila area experienced the same water problem deal, being repeated like a cycle and never fixed.
With the drought then, Manila asked for the Montalban Dam to help fulfill their residents daily water needs. But when the La Mesa Dam was fixed, Manila just resort to La Mesa for all its water needs and Montalban Dam, now Rodriguez Dam supplies water only along the Marikina area. For the Montalban Dam (Boso-Boso Dam, Wawa Dam, Rodriguez Dam were it's other name) was another Reservoir known as the Marikina Watershed Reservation.

Tree Planting was one of the methods Manilenos thought of saving the La Mesa Reservoir, with regards to the subdivision project to be constructed along the La Mesa Park they collected 10 million votes to eliminate the project. Napocor is also one to blame with the continual decrease of the La Mesa water, for the release of too much water for its hydroelectric powerplant. During the Marcos regime, the government decided to construct nuclear powerplant to prevent frequent brownout. But when the Marcos regime stoppled down, it was discontinued for the Aquino regime feared of pollution. Taiwan is a country smaller than Philippines but it has eight nuclear powerplants, yet Taiwanese do not complain anything about pollution.
Maybe it is in the word nuclear that people say it's polluting but if you look to reality if it was then Taiwan's already a hell. As of now the only solution I recommend to save the La Mesa Reservoir is support the project such as plant trees along the area and conserve water.

High School Musical
Wednesday, December 6, 2006

Lourdes Garden, December 5 the Angeles University Foundation features High School Musical and Happy Feet as Sine 'kalibre feature movies as part of the celebration of University Week.Sine 'kalibre did not start exactly at four, because the noonlight will blur the screen, the show starts at 4:45 where High School Musical was first featured, where Troy Bolton (played by Zac Efron) fell in love with Gabriella Montez (played by Vanessa Anne Hudgens) who has a very beautiful voice. Soon they both decided to audition for the winter musicale. Where they break the rules of East High where the freaky genius girl should only be at Mathletes and the hot sporty jock should only be at Wildcats Basketball Team. The AUF audience gushed every time these two appeared on screen. In the end they beat the all season musicale superstars Sharpay and Ryan Evans (played By Ashley Tisdale and Lucas Grabeel), when they sang their winning piece Breaking Free, saying in the world of arts there are times where talent is not all that matters, some of the AUF audience sang with Troy and Gabriella in the magical song.

Happy Feet
Happy Feet was the next on the slot, where Elijah Wood did the voice behind Mumble, the penguin who could not sing. Mumble is too different------especially for Noah The Elder, the stern leader of Emperor Land, who ultimately casts him out of the community. Away from home for the first time, Mumble meets the Adelie Amigos. In Adelie Land, Mumble seeks the counsel of Lovelace the Guru, who will answer any life's questions for the price of a pebble. Together with Lovelace and the Amigos, Mumble sets out across vast landscapes and after some epic encounters, proves that by being true to yourself, you can make all difference in the world. AUF audience loves the animated comedy so much that they could still feel the fun of Happy Feet Dancing when they leave the Lourdes Garden. Chattering about the thrill of the animated movie deeply set in Antarctica.

First Gentleman Mike Arroyo has lots of allegations one of these was FG Arroyo and President Arroyo were not bedmates. Yet, Senator Jinggoy Estrada backtracked when told of the FG Arroyo's homecoming to attend a family funeral. Sort of a foul play.
Ms Arroyo announced last June 29, 2005 that the reason she sends her husband abroad was to prevent her family from being used in political attacks against her. And the President stressed she won't resign; she complained she has been the object of ridicule but none would distract her from fulfilling her reform agenda. With allegations published FG Arroyo appeared to be like saying everything seems foul play and political enemies are trying hard to stopple the administration down.skip to main skip to sidebar

They could post videos unlike in the newspapers, which is very impossible. But in online newspapers there are scoops which is off-limits all the time unless you apply for online registration, so you would see scoops with dollar paid using any bank cards available, and the fee is processed on the web.International Online Newspapers compared to Local Online Newspapers are better off to cover the world than just America itself. Most stories written are scandals both political and entertainment, and stories covering the Middle East war.Local Online Newspapers are better off covering the Philippines then the world. Plagiarism on the web4th entryPlagiarism has been a long issue dated since publishing was first put to order to protect the author's copyrightor originality of concept. Here in the Philippines web plagiarism particularly blogs, was like not an issue at all. There are no definite laws passed regarding plagiarism in blog updating. It is like a freedom wall powered by electricity and networking.Nobody would care at all if the blog has a thing or two or everything copied from somebody. It is like theycannot file a case for there are no laws regarding the blog formality. Not all knows the laws regardingformalities in blogging, what if the person updating the blog knows nothing regarding plagiarism for theperson was a high school student could it be he is exemption if a law was passed.Still a question.... that is why it is an ISSUE.

Philippine Education Worries5th entryYearly education in the country has a worry not just for the parents but also to students. For the parents the worry was if they could get their child to a really good school and to the students would they be competitiveenough. If the child enjoyed the opportunity of studying in a private school, he has more access to learningfacilities and resources, which were always a continuing, issue.GILAS, which stands for Gearing Up Internet Literacy and Access for Students, is a multi-sector initiative led by Ayala Foundation that aims to wire up all the country's public high schools to the Internet by 2010.GILASproject aims to close the technological divide that exists between developed and developing countries. That is why in 2005, Ayala Foundation came up with a project that aims to provide Internet connection to all 5,789 public high schools in the country. And even if the project was launched only last year, there have already been a lot of individuals and organizations that have given their commitment to ensure that there are enough resources for the project to push through.President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and the Department of Education were the one who fully endorsed the project.
David Byrne Sing the Imelda Marcos History6th entryDavid Byrne, 54, known as the frontman for the influential off-beat 1980s pop band "taking heads,"performed the sold-out show "Here Lies Love." In the concert he unveils to US the Imelda MarcosHistory minus her shoes collection, Feb. 4, 2007 at the Carnegie Hall.Byrne thanked the Carnegie Hall for letting him perform the 23 songs he wrote in collaboration withBritish DeeJay Norman Cook, known as Fatboy Slim. "This not artistic license, this is reportage,"Byrne told the crowd as he tells Marcos' History one by one through a song.He titled the song "Here Lies Love," for it was what Imelda Marcos wanted quoted on her tombstone.
Toys That Kills7th entryRemembering the summer's war between Israel and Hezbollah left an emotion of breakdown not justto Israelites and Lebanese but also to Filipinos working as OFWs in the said country. There were likenews coverage on the confessions of Filipino OFWs escaping their way to get to the PhilippineEmbassy before they were send back to the country. Most confessions by the Filipino OFWs saysthey've killed their way through.Still days after they got back to the country some of them would rather want working overseas andbe far from the home and family than work here in a minimum salary. After stories of how peopleare escaping the place because of scaring sight of flying toys firing bombs in every area of the landthe fright left a scar not just to Lebanese and Israelites but to all people who were there on the Israeland Hezbollah war.
Face Blindness8th entryEver heard of the word face blindness, it is actually a medical term, blindness is knownby all but face blindness was a question. Face blindness is also known as prosopagnosia,it is impairment in the ability to recognize faces. Kiki Latimer, 48, says that she workedin a youth hostel when she was on her 20s, one particular guest came back every weekand everytime she does not recognize him she was looking at her like she was a fruitcake.Prosopagnosics have trouble identifying faces they have met repeatedly or even lifelongacquaintances even close friends and family members. "When I was younger Iremember saying 'that's not me' when I looked in the mirror," recalls Kiki Latimer. "Iremember thinking it was just something weird."

The Camera Prefers Blondes9th entryThis has been a long issue when it comes to the Hollywood screen this was first started byMarilyn Monroe when somebody told her she would look better with a blonde hair. For theHollywood camera prefers blondes than any hair color on screen that is because TV thenwas Black and White. Marilyn then decided to dye her hair blonde so she would look prettyon the camera. It was later on Madonna relive the belief by dyeing her hair blonde and imitating MarilynMonroe's hair and get up. Sounds pretty effective for a beauty tip.

The AdspeakThis year's adspeak organized by the Colegio de San Juan de Letran was indeed successful, we junior year students of the Angeles University Foundation, was able to watch the said seminar regarding advertising. The Advocacy advertising was one of the most talkabout saying how does this ad survive the production with little funding yet end up creative.Advocacy advertising were usually the ads promoting moral values. to some it is cool, but to some it is just (ah well okay!) for they are not cool with ads that were really preachy. These ads aim up to develop values examples were like the Bantay Bata, ads promoting the stop of abortion.et.al.Usually it targets the heart, and while the audience aims to appreciate the whole event.
Secrets of the Church
2nd entry
Skehan and Guinan pastors of the St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church, were found on an allegation of St. Vincent collection money to secret slush-funds accounts while living hedonistically as Renaissance popes. The Catholic church admits there are no secrets left hidden forever, in the police report the said priest were using the collection money for their girlfriend or expensive

vacations. The St.Vincent case may be the worst case to hit embezzlement to US Catholicism joining the gallery of Klepto-clerics.
In the Philippines there were also cases of catholic foul plays were priests were found to have children. Even though in the catholic religion priest are ordered to celibate, well to some it was to keep all the earnings of the church just to them and to some the priest might still have the old world attitude that what's in the collection basket is personally theirs to do with as they wish
Many were like already wondering how the catholic power is weakened slowly and slowly. But congregations were like just all equal all have positives and negatives.

Campaign for the Next ElectionFebruary 20, 2007 at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center, Team UnityTogether with Lito Lapid, Vice President Noli DeCastro and President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo campaigned for the Kapampangans to vote for them in this upcoming election. The kapampangans were all anticipating that this next election would sail out smoothly than the last election tainted by the cheating scandal. All the candidates were saying not promising that on this next term they would strive to make this country more harmonious than before. In every candidates speech they never forget to say the Pampanga in the plans and how much they love the place and the people.Beating AIDS virus
2nd entryThis February a lot of articles could be read all about love, the Valentine’s Day event and the AIDS virus. How to beat the AIDS virus could be the primary question in the news article print or online newspaper web. They would always stress on using different contraceptives so as not to contaminate yourself on the disease and abstinence.Well the best way could be is the second, abstinence wherein the person refrains from sex not until the right time comes. Marriage and sex is always a sacred thing to many not just to people but also to God.

Philippine Literature Today

February 22 at PS 514 room, Mass Communication students of Angeles University Foundation attended the seminar on Creative Writing hosted by one of Philippines' best writers. The guest speakers taught the students several techniques in writing effectively for Komiks, romance novels and television scripts.

During the seminar the guest speakers also speak of how the Philippine literature is today. In other countries if you are a novelist you are an upper class citizen while here you work for a low salary and your masterpiece is not protected by copyright. That is why if you're work is plagiarize it is hard to defend your work.

Literature is part of the world's art it has been seen not just sad but very sad that are version of literature is dying.

Stand-up report

My first time to do a stand up reporting and interview a person infront of the very cruel medium called the videocam that was yesterday 27th of February. The people I ask for the interview cringe at the sight of the camera or maybe I look scary.

People usually get conscious when interviewed while infront of that cruel medium but hey that won't eat you.
The Colloquium

The First E-Newsroom colloquium is not that frightening but it is really tiring on my part. I was a gopher you know, you go for this you go for that. Thank God it was successful! The set was really very formal that it kind of scared the guests. The theme was all for the College CAS and the students as panel like do they support each other?
Some comments that I've heard were it did not give final conclusions, only discussions. Do they need to set up a colloquium like this or just ask this directly to the dean? Or maybe everyone on the mass communication junior year feels the creeps because it is the final period.

The Column

2nd entry

The first column I did in the class was all about journalism, why do most cringe being in the area...because of the dangers in the Journalism. Everybody knows journalism here is
one of the most dangerous in the world. Where Journalist were just killed or slaughtered like pigs only because of doing their duty to deliver stories that matter.
Truly journalism is a life-long pledge of humility and learning, in time we always try to learn to be credible in delivering stories of matter. The only will power that we could keep is faith in God and diplomacy in our chosen vocation. In further refining of skills is accepting the burden of independent thought, to welcome the dissonance of human events and render that dissonance with coherence and style.
Truly Chay's column gives us a view on what it was in journalism vocation.

Letting The Emotions
Thursday, March 15, 2007
The Fantasticks1st entryI interviewed one of the Philippines' finest director of the latest play staged at the Angeles University Foundation Auditorium, Antonio G. Mabesa. The Fantasticks was a romantic comedy play that can be compared to Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet when it comes to story. In the play the guy fell in love with the girl whom they're grandfathers were loyal enemies yet in the end it was a happy ending unlike the Romeo and Juliet which was a tragedic ending. The audience loves the play and enjoy the show because of its romantic and comedic touch. There has been this line that truly catches the attention of the audience when the Indian fella introduced himself by saying the line " I'm a Roman from Rome." And the audience laughs...well just watch the play.
Unleashed Emotions

2nd entry

The recent campaign was very emotional for me because it has been the first time for me to speak in a rostrum on the large crowd of the Angeles University Foundation Covered Court. It does not look like a Covered Court to me but a Supreme Court of Justice, because it is my first time to do a real public speaking.
Thank God it ends peaceful but the results are not yet released so I could still feel the high tension.

The Elections

March 19, 2007

Winning the elections

Yesterday, Manuel texted me about the results of the CSC-CAS elections that said “team outSpeak we won the elections.”
I feel very happy on my part happy because we won.
And well to all who supported team outSpeak in this journey.
As the new CSC-CAS president I gave to you my warmest gratitude.
Thank you.

I also watched Happy Feet but in theater. I am with my sister then. It was almost 9:00 pm when we got home. We also had fun watching it. Kaso linagnat ung kapatid ko kasi sobrang malamig sa loob. But it was funny. I could relate myself to Mumble although he is a penguin. Mumble tried to persuade all of his colleagues about humans but no one believed him. In that case, Mumble and I are different. Minsan lang kasi ung mga cases na pinipilit ko ung mga tao na maniwala sa kin. Pero usually, I do not care if they don’t believe.

speaking of internship, I am already having mine now, as you know, with Mavic and Myk... of course, we have heard stories of being a runner, a coffee maker, photocopy girl from people who have done it. I wouldn't want to experience it but right now, I think my task in GMA (I have report there every Monday) is quite similar to that. I am a transcribe. in short, I type every word or even every sound I hear from interviews of celebrities, which will be used to make an article by the writers. having Mavic and Myk around makes the whole day fun, but I would have to admit that the task itself sucks, but there is nothing I can do, of course, they would give us that certain tasks because why would they even hire other employees if we would do their job, I’m just looking on the bright side, it still is a lot better than making coffee...ehe!

I admit that it's not easy to apply as an intern for one company. I can't help sometimes to wonder that it's also for their own advantage if they accept us which I'am confident that we can help in their company.

But for me I don't treat our internship as a requirement. I treat it as a learning process at the same time to enjoy and expose myself into the real world... Getting to meet new people and not just the same faces in the campus plus working in the production I think it's very challenging eventhough our senior told us that it's very tiring... It's still up to us to make our summer internship a memorable and enjoyable one... Honestly Im realy excited for this intership...

I just hope everything will turn out to be fine...

vacation is near but i don't think we will be able to enjoy it because most of us are having our internship in manila. i'm a bit excited and a bit nervous with our upcoming internship in manila because we don't know what's instored for us there but i'm hoping that we will enjoy our internship and of course to learn more.
time runs fast and i couldn't imagine myself preparing things for our internship. it's even unbelievable that we will be in our 4th year next academic year..
haay,, i'm so proud of us because we survived for almost 3 years.. thank God.. hehe

I’m preparing myself for the internship we will do after class. We don’t have any choice, no summer vocation, no swimming, no reunions and so on. But I’m glad that were given a chance in abs to work with them. Even without vocation I’m still excited for the internship. I hope it will make us develop our career. Pero it’s quite challenging to live far from your family, parang di ako sanay however that’s the thrill how strong you are living without them. There were people saying that it was easy to apply in big networks but I think it’s not that easy. During our application I felt hopeless because every company we went to were so strict. They intend to leave the resume to the guards. So how can us so sure we’re hired. Therefore god made a way for us to make the day worth thank to the guard also.

Well Archie, you are not alone with what you are feeling. Basically, every first day, we are all having “mixed emotions”. This is because we are very curios of what is at stake for us. We’ll never know what might just happen. You know, we have different subjects each semester, different teachers, and sometimes different classmates. There is no other way in order to release this. You are right, what we are in need to do is to just wait and see what will happen. That is also a newer approach to life. Sometimes it is nice to just wait and see because there is this excitement in us that wait. Like in my life, I always just let things happen without me really rushing to see what’s going to happen. Life is indeed full of unpredictable things, we all know that. Well, I would say you are of course a wonderful person and I am sure you will be very happy to see and wait for what life could have just given you. But wait, where your other articles are? Is this your new blog? Anyway again, just good luck on your struggles and hope you will seek the happiness you are looking and waiting for.

hi archie! i got a hard time in looking for your blog because i think you have had some difficulties in posting your articles, right? but anyway, i would like to tell you that i am happy when i see you. especially, when you sing and dance in front of us and in front also of many people. how i wish i could also the same confidence that you have. you are very smart and also good in speaking. but i suggest you sometimes watch also if people still like what you are doing or not anymore. but anyway, don't be affected too much with what i am saying. i am just here whenever you need a Korean friend who will listen to you if times, you have some problems. i am hoping to see you still next year, also in our graduation.

i am very excited to start my OJT there not only because i will meet my favorite celebrities but ofcousre i am very sure that i will learn a lot from there. i will witness the real world of Production.

Journalism is truly a vocation. I strongly agree with the line “journalism is a lifelong pledge of humility and learning”. There is so much to study about journalism, but more than the study, few people succeed in the real fulfillment of the test of journalism. That’s why I admire journalists, who in the fulfillment of their work, forget about the threat and danger and still do their work responsibly and unswervingly.

I admire those who despite the financial insufficiency in journalism, remain to be true in their work. They adhere to the real meaning of journalism. Journalism is a type of work that demands special commitment.

PS: Archie, I admire you for being a strong and cheerful person despite the things you experience. You always manage to put a smile in your face. 

Hello there. Yah, Archie I know that first day feeling where you dream you perfect day but suddenly turns out a different way. I guess that's the good thing we can imagine because it's hard living in reality. Sometimes, I wonder what would my day be like tomorrow. Sometimes I think about it with fear because it hard living another day unsure of what's going to happen next.

hi chi! do not feel or do not see it that way. summer internship is the very good start for us to practice the skills and knowledge that we have all acquired inside our classrooms (if there are). i think this summer internship is more exciting than any asian cruise or a bora trip. but anyway, where are you going to have your internship? i just wish that you find happiness in your summer internship. just remember all what you have learned from the theories and all the productions. fear not. i know you have something in your mind that will make you ok for this summer internship. look myk, mic and mavic, at first, i know they were a bit worried because it was their first time, but now, its just a piece of cake for them to come and go at gma 7. keep it up.

Actually archie, I am very excited to have our internship this coming vacation. I was hired at abs-cbn with some of our classmates. In fact you were hired as well. I always remember how hard it is to go to manila and look for a job that would hire interns. I can still remember when I with some of our classmates went to GMA to pass our resume but unfortunately I drop out. The moment I saw the box where resumes are put I already change my mind because it was like a raffle draw. So, I and our classmates decided to go at abs and grab the opportunity. Happily, I and my classmates easily cross the threshold and pass our resume to the guard and called the head of the HR department. Afterwards, Mr.’ Leone talked to us and told us that I and my classmates just have to wait for his call or text. Luckily, all of us who pass resumes at abs got hired.

Hey arch,
It sure is not easy to do a stand up reporting, especially if the environment is not suiting and the people are not that cooperative. I think my group had the worst experience. We were assigned at the side gate to ask the tricycle drivers, and you could only imagine how hard it is to convince them, and there is the camera, just enough reason for them to say no. It was an exhausting experience but nonetheless effective. I mean it was a graded practice of the real thing somehow, so I guess it’ll be harder when it’s really one’s job already, so at the end of the day I still appreciated it.
